Wacom Pen Nib Too Short To Remove
Hello Everyone,
A few weeks ago I wore out my Intuos4 tablet pen nib to the point where I realized I could not remove it with tweezers and change it, THEN to make it worse, the more I tried to take it out with tweezers the shorter and shorter it got until it was impossible to grab onto it at all. This was incredibly infuriating as, for some reason, it took weeks for Wacom to get back to me (actually, they never got back to me the first time) and I ended up having to send another e-mail to them about this situation, in which they hastily responded this time around.
After I finally got a response for this issue, I was presented with two options. Buy another pen ($50 dollars out of my pocket) or try pulling/pushing it out with a pin. Fortunately, pushing it out with a pin worked! But I am still disappointed that these were the only two options that I was presented with: give Wacom more money for their poorly designed tablet pen (which I hadn't even had for a year yet) or try to figure it out myself using some fairly archaic methods.
So, I suppose I am wondering, why on earth has the drawing tablet itself come a long way in advancements since my first Intous tablet back when I was 13, but not the pen? They are STILL using the same method of changing the pen nibs from 11 years ago! I would have hoped that they could have at least developed an easier way to notice that the pen nib was getting too short BEFORE it gets so short that it gets stuck. Is that too much to ask when there are so many advancements in technology these days?
I am glad this issue is resolved, but I'm still not very happy about about Wacom's customer service. BUT MOVING ON! I mainly wanted to share this method of getting your tablet pen nib unstuck if you are ever unfortunate enough to accidentally wear out your nibs too much like I did. I had a very hard time finding any other useful methods outside of "pull out with tweezers" as far as Google searching about this problem.
SO REMEMBER! If you wear your pen nibs out too much to the point where you can't pull it out, push it out with a pin - more specifically, gently push the pin into the -side- of your worn out nib so that it gets slightly embedded into the nib and then carefully push it forward and out of your pen.
I hope that this journal was, at the very least, helpful in adding another strategy to getting those pesky nibs out!
